Lesson details

This lesson teaches you how the body, or “engine room,” organizes movement through a natural spiral motion so the club can move more consistently without conscious manipulation. Instead of chasing static positions, you begin training the movement system itself — blending rotation, lateral movement, and vertical force into one repeatable action.

When the inner spiral of the body matches the outer spiral of the club, timing improves, pressure stabilizes, and movement begins repeating naturally under speed. This is why great players often appear effortless. Their body action is organized before the club ever arrives.

Most golfers spend years reacting to shots instead of training the movement creating them. Here, we reverse that process. Train the movement correctly… and the positions begin taking care of themselves.

The Spiral Staircase is movement organization.

Efficient golf movement combines rotation, lateral pressure shift, and vertical force simultaneously. When these blend together naturally, the body spirals around, upward, and inward before reversing down, around, and outward — eventually returning around, inward, and upward again into a balanced completion of the full spiral movement.

This is not random motion. It is how the body distributes force efficiently through the kinetic chain while maintaining organization under speed.

One of the biggest misconceptions in golf is believing the swing is simply rotational. Elite players are constantly organizing pressure, balance, and force in multiple directions at once. The spiral staircase is simply the easiest way to understand and train that reality.

Why the Feet Together Drill Is So Powerful

Feet together dramatically reduces excessive variables and forces the body to self-organize around its centre. It improves pressure control, balance point awareness, central column stability, sequencing, and ground interaction without the player consciously trying to manipulate positions.

This is why the drill feels simple… but exposes everything.

Elite players are not consciously controlling positions during the swing because the movement happens too quickly. Instead, they have trained movement patterns so deeply that the nervous system organizes motion subconsciously under speed.

This is why:

• Rhythm improves

• Timing stabilizes

• Force transfers more efficiently

• The club releases naturally

The movement becomes autonomous.

This is also why forcing static positions often creates tension and inconsistency. The player interrupts what the system naturally wants to do.

Efficient players create movement through the feet stabilizing pressure, the hips internally and externally rotating, the thoracic spine creating coil, and the core transferring force between upper and lower body.

This protects the body while improving repeatability, sequencing, and speed.

The goal is not to swing perfectly. The goal is to organize movement consistently enough that the body can repeat it under pressure.
