ACL Drill | The Spiral Band
Lesson details
The Spiral Band was never designed to teach static positions, because there are none in the golf swing. The swing is dynamic, elastic, and constantly moving.
In this bonus variation, we hold the band in the hand (or attach it to an alignment stick) instead of fixing it to the shoulder. This changes the sensation completely. Now you feel pressure travelling into the shoulder structure and along the arc, not just around the body.
The goal isn’t “correct positions.” It’s correct pressure for your body.
This version teaches you how spiral tension supports the arc, stabilises the shoulder structure, and personalises movement. No two bodies move the same and the band helps you discover your own efficient pattern.

If you’re still here… welcome back to movement intelligence.
This Spiral Band variation moves beyond structure and into dynamic pressure organisation.
There are no static positions in a golf swing. There are only dynamic movement zones, natural relationships between:
ground pressure
body spiral
arc direction
shoulder structure
club delivery
This version of the drill makes that reality impossible to ignore. When the band is attached directly to the shoulder, it reinforces global diagonal tension. When you hold it in your hand or attach it to an alignment stick, something different happens:
The tension now travels through the wrist
Into the forearm
Into the shoulder structure
Into the scapular system
This amplifies awareness of pressure on the arc.
You begin to feel:
how the shoulder supports the arc
how the arm connects to the torso
how the body stabilises the club’s outer spiral
This is no longer just fascial loading —
it’s delivery education.
Pressure on the Arc — The Missing Link
Every club travels on an outer spiral arc. The body moves on an inner spiral arc.
When these arcs match:
face control stabilises
shaft pressure sustains
shoulder stress reduces
timing becomes predictable
The band creates tension that pulls slightly off-line.
If your spiral collapses, the arc destabilises instantly.
This is arc integrity training — not position copying.
Dynamic, Not Static
There is no “perfect top.” There is no frozen delivery position.
There are only dynamic relationships held under pressure.
The band teaches this by constantly adjusting tension as you move.
You cannot hold it still.
You must organise it.
That’s why this variation is so powerful.
Individual Mechanics — Not One Model
Spiral Code is not prescriptive. There are no universal positions.
There are principles:
upward spiral
push–pull harmony
arc integrity
balanced deceleration
But how you feel those principles will differ from someone else.
The band is a feel amplifier, not a rule book.
Some players need more arc pressure.
Some need more shoulder awareness.
Some need to feel tension earlier.
Some need to soften it.
This tool allows that exploration safely.
Why This Matters for Longevity
When shoulder structure supports arc pressure:
the wrists stop rescuing
the elbows stop absorbing overload
the spine rotates without compression
deceleration becomes controlled
That’s efficiency. Movement intelligence. If you’re still reading, you understand something most golfers never will:
The Spiral Band is not teaching a swing. It’s teaching your body how to organise pressure dynamically, for you.
That is Accelerated Learning in action. That is Individual Mechanics. This is The Spiral Code.
