Lesson details

Most golfers think shoulder load means “turn more.” But turning more is exactly how players lose structure, leak power, and hurt their backs.

The truth? Your shoulders are part of a transmission, not the engine.

The Lead Arm Drill teaches you the real load:
• Upward, not flat
• Spiral, not twist
• Connected, not independent
• Supported by the body through the shoulder structur and not faked

This drill shows you how to engage the muscle structure under the shoulders — the core, ribs, obliques, and fascia that create true 3D motion.

A correct shoulder load doesn’t feel like a turn. It feels like stored energy — connected, elevated, and ready to release.

This is your introduction to that feeling.

If you love understanding what actually happens inside a world-class backswing — welcome.

The shoulders are ball-and-socket joints, which means they can cheat the motion. Golfers “turn” their shoulders flat and think they’ve loaded. They haven’t — they’ve disconnected.

The real load happens under the shoulders:
• thoracic rotation
• rib elevation
• oblique activation
• fascia tension
• trail-side elongation

The Lead Arm Drill switches these systems on.

The shoulder load is a 3D spiral, not a rotation
The Spiral system has always emphasised that the swing moves:
• around
• up
• laterally
all at the same time.

Flat rotation removes the vertical component of the coil. Vertical load activates the posterior chain and protects the spine.

This drill teaches that automatically.

The lead arm reveals the truth of your transmission
When the lead arm loads correctly, you feel:
• width without tension
• elevation without lifting
• coil without collapse
• connection without manipulation

The body’s spiral line carries the load — not the shoulder joint
The diagonal chain from lead wrist → lead arm → lead lat → opposite glute
is the actual power line.

Why this drill is pure Accelerated Learning
You don’t “think” your way into a good shoulder load — you feel it through structure. It aligns the transmission with the engine room and the steering — the essence of The Spiral Code.
