Ben Hogan said, “The secret is in the dirt.”
And while part of that is true, there’s a smarter way to improve. Inside The Spiral Code, we say: “The secret is in the movement.”
In this first lesson, I’ll help you understand Intention, the principle that shapes every level of your game. This isn’t about hitting balls for hours; it’s about mastering the movement that builds your swing before the club ever meets the ball.

Let’s be honest, you’ve hit enough balls to know effort alone doesn’t fix inconsistency. You’ve probably hit a few that felt perfect… only to lose it the next day. That’s not talent fading, that’s intention drifting. We call this the find it loose it cycle, which is not at all fun.
When you practise without clear intention, your body reacts instead of responds. That’s why a 9/10 practice swing turns into a 4/10 real one. The problem isn’t mechanics — it’s mindset.
Here’s what I want you to do: you don't need golf balls or clubs — just stand there. Close your eyes. Create a golf swing movement. Feel your balance, sense the pressure under your feet, notice where your weight goes. That’s your foundation and as we say "A good swing is built on solid foundations" The goal isn’t to hit better, it’s to move better.
Pete Cowen said, “If I had my time again, I’d do it differently — fifteen minutes of focused movement can change your game.”
And he’s right. Fifteen minutes of real connection between brain and body is worth more than two hours of guesswork.
When you set the right intention — to move well, not hit hard — your balance sharpens, your posture finds itself, and the swing becomes effortless. You stop searching for your swing and start building it.
Most golfers don’t lack talent; they lack clarity. The moment you train to hit, you compromise the movement. The moment you train with intention, your body begins to remember.
No gimmicks. No tips. Just Spiral truth.
